5. Tinder preps 'Lite' version of its dating app for data-limited areas - Add Tinder to the growing list of tech giants launching lightweight apps to reel in more users. As part of an earnings call, Match Group divulged plans for a Tinder Lite app that would be smaller and better suited to the area where cellular data "comes at a premium." CEO Mandy Ginsberg made no mention of features or release date (other than "soon"), but did point to Southeast Asia as a high priority when there's an influx of young people into packed cities.
As with other lightweight apps and scaled-back operating systems like Android Go, this is really about maintaining the growth that might otherwise taper off. Although Tinder is still growing at a solid pace (its paid subscribers jumped 38 percent year-over-year in early 2019), it knows those numbers won't last forever. A Tinder Lite app would give it access to millions of people who have only basic smartphones, limited access to data or both. Even if only a fraction of those newcomers signs up, that's a large potential expansion.

1. OnePlus 7 Pro - OnePlus recently launched its next-generation flagships OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro in India. However, while announced together, OnePlus kept the release of the more affordable OnePlus for next month to give the Pro variant a leeway to establish. It seems that the gamble paid off for the brand as Amazon India has now announced that within a week of its launch, the OnePlus 7 Pro has become the fastest selling high-end smartphone.


2. WhatsApp beta update - Popular instant messaging app WhatsApp keeps trying new features out through its Beta program. The company recently pushed out some changes like removing the ability to save profile pictures, night mode, redesigned emojis, and more. Now, noted WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo has spotted two more never-seen-before features in the latest beta update of the software.


3. Tor browser officially launched for Android - The Tor browser, run by the privacy-focused group The Tor Project, has finally released a stable build for its mobile variant. There has been talking about the impending launch of the Tor browser on Android has been around for a while, especially following the release of the Alpha build of the app in September 2018. Reliance Jio gains 9.4 million users - According to a new report from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio was the only carrier to gain users during March, while every other telecom operator lost subscribers. Thanks to great offers and connectivity, users seem to be boarding the Jio train at a constant rate. The telco gained around 9.4 million users in the month of March 2019. This had a negative effect on the other two top telcos, Vodafone Idea, and Bharti Airtel. Both these operators lost about 30 million subscribers combined.

The company revealed last year that it’ll introduce advertisements inside the Status tab in the form of stories, which will be similar to Instagram and Facebook Stories. Now, its parent company Facebook — at its ongoing Marketing Summit in Rotterdam, Netherlands — has revealed that it’ll bring ads to WhatsApp Status by the year 2020.

Customers planning to buy the Galaxy M20, will be able to purchase it for Rs 10,990 for the base 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. Industry sources told IANS on Thursday that the sale of Galaxy ‘M30’ with a triple rear-camera system and a massive 5,000mAh battery will begin in the first week of March. Samsung will bring Super-AMOLED display with Infinity V styled notch to ‘M30’, making it a power-packed offering for young millennials in the country. Powered by latest Exynos 7904 processor, Galaxy ‘M30’ comes with 4GB RAM-64GB internal memory variant. The device is also likely to have a 6GB-128GB variant.Samsung India in January launched Galaxy ‘M20’ and ‘M10‘ smartphones at a starting price of Rs 10,990 and Rs 7,990 respectively to take on Xiaomi‘s budget “Redmi” series in the country. Galaxy ‘M20’ is priced at Rs 12,990 for the 4GB+64GB variant while the 3GB+32GB variant costs Rs 10,990. Galaxy ‘M10’ is priced at Rs 8,990 for the 3GB+32GB variant and Rs 7,990 for the 2GB+16GB.

Twitter is currently testing a new profile preview feature on iOS and Android - In an attempt to address the problem of following threaded conversations on its app, micro-blogging site Twitter is reportedly testing an overlay of profile preview that would enable users to see information of any person replying to their tweet-threads. Typically, Twitter does not automatically organize conversations in ways easy to dissect, hence, tweet threads become difficult to follow and users tend to get lost in confusion.
This feature, which would work within the threads as well as outside on the main feed, would show information of the replier including their Twitter bio, follower counts, and when they joined the service, The Verge reported on Wednesday. Users would also get options to jump to the full profile of the other users along with the standard share options – specifically tailored for the user’s profile.

Redmi Note 7 with 48-megapixel camera to launch in India on February 28 - Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 in China last month, and the highlight of the smartphone is its 48-megapixel rear camera, and affordable price tag. Debuting under Redmi sub-brand, the smartphone is all set to launch in India soon, and today the company has revealed its launch date. The Redmi Note 7 will make its way to the Indian shores on February 28. However, there is no word on whether it will be sold via Flipkart or Amazon India.

Google plans to include scrolling screenshots in Android R - Dave Burke, Google vice president of engineering for Android, mentioned today on Twitter that scrolling screenshots are “in the hopper” for Android R.Nothing is concrete, since Burke also said the Android team can “hopefully” implement scrolling screenshots in Android R. That said, Android software engineer Dan Sadler joined the thread and accepted Burke’s challenge.


2. Google Keep finally gets a dark mode, but it’s more of a ‘gray mode’ - According to Android website, Google is finally updating its Keep note-taking app with a dark mode. However, it’s not a true dark mode that makes use of an OLED display’s inky blacks.

1. WhatsApp beta for Android brings redesigned emojis - WhatsApp is back again with a new update. The popular messaging platform has rolled out a new Android beta update, which brings redesigned 155 emojis. WhatsApp users can access the new Emojis layout for 155 emojis from 2.19.139 Android version of the app. Wabetainfo reported that the layout will be available for WhatsApp users in the next Google Play Stable release. The Facebook-owned company will also release the update for the web version of WhatsApp. A few months ago, the cited source had revealed that “WhatsApp worked to improve the layout of 357 emojis in the 2.18.384 beta update, and 21 emojis in the 2.19.21 version.” Now, WhatsApp has improved the design for 155 emojis with the latest 2.19.139 update. The source has also shared a few images of the new and old emojis.


2. Samsung Galaxy M40 with Infinity-O display - Samsung is set to add another device to its Galaxy M lineup in India. The Korean giant is reportedly preparing to launch Galaxy M40 in India next as it prepares an arsenal of devices in the Galaxy M and Galaxy A lineup to challenge Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi in the country. 3. Paytm First Card introduced in India in partnership with Citibank - Paytm has introduced a new credit, called Paytm First Card, in partnership with Citibank. The company is touting that the new card will offer customers 1 percent of universal cashback along with zero restrictions on earning categories. This will be auto-credited to the card every month. Furthermore, if you want to use the Paytm First Card, you will be required to pay an annual fee of Rs 500. But, the charged fee will be waived off if the spends exceed Rs 50,000 per year, as per Paytm.

1. OnePlus 7 Pro pre-booking starts today on Amazon - Ahead of the OnePlus 7 series smartphone official launch on May 14th, OnePlus has announced the pre-booking of the ‘Pro’ model in India. Starting today at 12pm, interested buyers can pre-book the OnePlus 7 Pro smartphone at just Rs 1,000 from e-commerce platform Amazon.in. As part of the early bird offer, OnePlus is offering six months free screen replacement (worth Rs 15,000) with the handset.


2. Vivo V15 Pro’s 8GB RAM variant landing soon in India - Earlier in February, Vivo introduced its latest V series smartphones called the V15 and V15 Pro in India. The Vivo V15 Pro arrived as one of the most interesting handsets from the brand’s stable with features like an all-screen fascia as well as an elevating selfie camera. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 - Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Note 10 in the next two or three months and once unveiled, the phone might look drastically different compared to the past Note series. However, a new report out of China suggests that the company might be working on a foldable phone called the Xperia F, which could be launched next year. This phone is said to adopt Samsung’s flexible OLED display technology with a 21:9 aspect ratio, which the company’s current flagship Xperia 1 smartphone features. Additionally, the handset is said to support 5G connectivity and the company is expected to announce the Xperia 2 smartphone next year.

Apple increases App Store Mobile Data Download Limit From 150MB to 200MB - Apple has finally increased the cellular data usage limit imposed on app downloads from the iOS App Store on iPhones and iPads. In place of the previous restriction of 150MB, iOS users can now download apps that are up to 200MB in file size. While this is a welcome move for many users, it still does not entirely resolve the issue of using data to download any heavy app or update, which can be a bit irksome at times.

1. Motorola One Vision launched - Motorola has launched the One Vision, its first smartphone with a 21:9 ultra-wide display, and Samsung-made Exynos processor. The Lenovo-owned smartphone maker launched the device at an event in Brazil, and it is expected to come to India soon. The One Vision is a mid-range smartphone running Android, and brings a number of changes that are a first for Motorola smartphone. As per the report, the first smartphone in the list is the Redmi 6A, the second is the Redmi Note 6 Pro, and the third most sold device is the Xiaomi Redmi Y2. If you think this is all then think again as in the top 10 most selling smartphones in the market, seven are from Xiaomi. The three non-Xiaomi smartphones in the list include the Samsung Galaxy M20, Samsung Galaxy J2 Core, and the Vivo V15 Pro.


3. Realme phones will get 2 years of Android OS - Realme has already said that all its smartphones will get upgraded to the latest Android Pie operating system before the end of June. Now, Realme’s CEO Madhav Sheth has asserted that Realme devices will receive two years of major Android OS updates, as well as monthly security patches. At the Realme X series launch event, the Chinese company also revealed that it will continue working on ColorOS skin to make it better by adding some features.

The leaked images show the phone with a big display with a slightly thick chin. Furthermore, the Zenfone 6 might not come with a selfie camera. The flip camera module will utilize the rear cameras for capturing selfies and videos.


5. OnePlus 7 Pro goes on sale today - OnePlus 7 Pro will go on sale for the first time today. The smartphone will be available for purchase via Amazon India at 12:00PM IST. But there’s a catch. The device will be available as part of Amazon’s early access program to Prime members only today. The regular sale for the device starts tomorrow. The Vivo V15 Pro price drop seems to be for the offline market as major online retailers in India, including Flipkart and Amazon, continue to sell the smartphone at its original price.
