1. Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL launched - Putting all the leaks and rumors to bed, Google has finally taken the wraps off the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones at its ongoing I/O 2019. These are the watered-down versions of the flagship Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL that were launched last year. Both smartphones lose out on glass back body, wireless charging, dual front cameras, and the high-end Snapdragon 845 SoC. But they do offer the same camera features as the flagship Pixel models. 2. Google Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL pre-registrations start - At I/O 2019 developer conference last night, Google took the wraps of the anticipated Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. With these phones, Google wants to offer premium software and camera experience to users at affordable price points. And as they are affordable devices, you get watered down specifications compared to the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL do not feature glass back and wireless charging. Instead, they come with unibody polycarbonate shell. The smartphones also come with a mid-range SoC, and does not feature any water resistance capabilities. Also, they just feature a single front camera, instead of two. 3. Hike is developing AI and Machine Learning stickers - Homegrown mobile messaging platform Hike announced a collaboration with Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-D) for developing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in the country.
This collaboration is in line with the company’s goal to facilitate research collaboration with Indian universities and research institutions, Hike said in a statement. “By facilitating this research opportunity, we want to help enable the Indian academia to connect to early-stage research and support the translation of that research to fuel advancement in the AI and ML ecosystem,” Anshuman Misra, VP Operations, Hike said.
